Reading Tumbles

Since Week 3 of Term 2 we have been doing our reading different from what we did in Term 1. We have been able to choose our activity from a reading tumble which updates every week. There were 8 activities to choose from. Before we needed to do a specific activity. When we started going to school it changed from 8 to 6. Last week it changed from 6 to 4 (1 activity every day except for Fridays). Also last week we started going to our reading classes      rather than staying in our normal classes. Also last week we put the work on a slideshow. This we learnt about racism and we read texts like The proudest blue. The slide show is under this text. I only have to do this for 2 more weeks (Week 11 and Week 12 (and there is a Week 11 and 12  because we missed 2 weeks of Term 1) and then it is the school holidays. I like doing the reading choice board. Thanks for looking at my blog! 

                  

My Creative Writing

Kia ora, bloggers . Since Friday of Week 7 of Term 2, the seniors (including me) all did their own creative writing document. We had 6 pictures to choose from a slide and we could only pick 1. The picture I chose is this interesting picture on this blog post. After we chose a picture, we all wrote on a separate document, and the writing is supposed to be about the picture you chose. My Lockdown Diary

Since Week 1 of Term 2 (while we were still in lockdown) the seniors have been working on their own slideshow called My Lockdown Diary. I was a record of things that happened during lockdown . We did this slideshow so we can look at it years later and know what it was like in lockdown. Here is my diary.

My Getting To Know Me

Kia Ora, bloggers. Welcome to the first blog post of the year! In class today my teacher wanted us to post about our getting to know you form, since we had such a big holiday and we forgot all our friends. So we did a getting to know you form to know each other better. We had to do our family background, things I like, my friends, things I am good at, things I don't like, what is important me and my family and things I want people to know about me. My story about seagulls dancing

Seagulls Dancing

In the holidays, I went to a glistering, golden, really sandy beach under the sun and borrowed a beach house from my friend. We stayed for two weeks, but when I returned home I could only think about this day in my holiday. 
We were walking in to the beach early in the morning, when I saw two seagulls waving their wings and stamping their feet on a rock. My sister, who is only four, thought they were dancing, but I, being more intelligent than my sister, told her seagulls don’t dance. When we finished our walk and went back , it was eight o'clock and I was starving because I didn’t eat breakfast yet. My dad asked me if I wanted some breakfast. I was just about to say yes when I saw the seagulls waving their wings and stamping their feet outside. That afternoon we went to the wharf, and I was just about to jump off when I saw two seagulls waving their wing and stamping their feet on top of a rock. So I thought to myself, “Why are they doing this?” So I went over to where the seagulls were and felt the heat with my feet. I finally apologised to my sister. Seagulls do dance!      

Athletics Day

Hello bloggers. On Tuesday the 19th of November we had our annual Athletics Day for the whole day. The whole school did it. The weather on the day was sunny and cloudy. We do Athletics Day every year so we can have fun and try to go into zones. We also got to know other children in our group. House points were given to people who gave respect and had good sportsmanship.


My favourite event was long jump because I can try to jump longer. I am really good at long jump and I can jump really far. Also, I got three turns at it. This is what we did. First we would line up across the trees. Secondly, the first two people in front of the line would stand at the climbing frame. Third, the first person who went to the climbing frame would run up to the mat on next to the sandpit. Then they would jump instantly on the green horizontal line in the middle of the mat. We repeat this until it was time to switch rotations.

Corbans Estate trip

Hello bloggers. Yesterday on the 13th of November we went to the Corbans Art Estate for a school trip. It was in Henderson. We went there because we wanted to learn more about the Pacific Islands and Pacific Ocean. 

Here is what we did. 

First I learnt how to say hello in Pacific languages. 

We did three things. One was drumming, another one was making flower necklaces called leis, and another was dancing. My favourite part was drumming because I have never drummed before.

First we got to know which drum was which. There were two kinds of drums - long drums and skin drums. I got to play the long drum. Then we got to know the pattern we needed to play. We then  started to play the drums. When other people started to play, I clapped to the same pattern. Then when all the kids were finished, we finished the workshop and went to next one.

I also learnt that drums weren't for fun and were used for important messages in the kingdom of Tonga. But now they are for entertainment and fun. We also learnt how to make leis. It was a 

1-0-1 basic way to make flower necklaces and then you could make any kind of lei. We also learnt how to hula hula.. This is the Hawaiian way to say dance.
